Gaslamp Chiropractic

Many individuals in Downtown San Diego CA believe chiropractic care can do little more than relieve pain in the neck and back regions. However, chiropractic was developed to help a much wider range of conditions than just back or neck pain. In fact, the first spinal realignment performed by D.D. Palmer, the founder of chiropractic, aimed to restore the hearing function of a man who had been deaf. After an adjustment that relieved the inflammation of neural pathways in the man’s body, he could hear once again! After making miracles a reality, D.D. Palmer sought to bring chiropractic’s healing properties to the masses.

Our Mission and Goal

It is our mission to achieve holistic harmony by reducing the physical stress and the cognitive stress on the body & mind. Our office incorporates techniques that focus attention on balancing the physical body and mental body systems.

Our goal is to bring awareness to the types of stress because the whole body can be positively, or negatively impacted by it. In a busy, high-achieving world, our space can be a stress-free zone where we bring a sense of calm and peacefulness to your day.

Physical & Cognitive Stress

What is stress? Stress in simple terms is a pressure that can stimulate a response within the body.

Physical stress is physical pressure that is caused by external forces such as exercise or illness. The body’s automatic response to physical stress demands more energy into the muscle and tissues to achieve a balanced and healing state.

Cognitive stress refers to strain on the mind due to repetitive mental and emotional pressures. Cognitive stress can come from ongoing challenges that do not allow for recovery time in between stressful events.

Why We Help Stress

Acute stress is a short-lived experience where the body can recover quicker from a stressful experience.

Chronic stress is considered when there is no time for recovery in between events. Take time to heal yourself to keep up with the events life presents you.

When the body reacts to stress, the physical body can be felt to push back, tense up, or can be restricted. A chemical reaction also occurs within the body and the brain responds by stimulating six different body systems to work harder. Those impacted are the respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine, nervous, gastrointestinal, and reproductive systems.

Education of a Chiropractor

Chiropractic doctors go through a minimum of four years of schooling at a chiropractic college, generally preceded by an undergraduate degree in the basic sciences or several years of experience in a prior relevant healthcare field.

Students of chiropractic care must spend a minimum of at least 4,200 hours with their teacher, and a minimum of 1,000 hours of fully supervised clinical training with an instructor as they learn the appropriate diagnosis and techniques to help heal your body and restore it to its natural, fully functioning state.

At Gaslamp Chiropractic our chiropractic team is ready to meet with you to discuss your needs. We will help to design a program that is right for you. We look forward to meeting you.

"Came in with severe lower back pain and Dr. Kurt did a wonderful job re-aligning me and helping ease that pain. After 3 sessions in about a week, I no longer have the pain!"
